4 Reasons to Drink Water

I don't know about you, but I love water. But it's hard for me to get the required gazillion gallons down everyday!

But.... drinking water helps your teeth stay healthy and it actually improves your smile. Did you know that it's one of the most beneficial things you can do to help prevent cavities?

Here are 4 reasons why:

1. It keeps your mouth clean

Water washes away the food on your teeth leftover food that bacteria love to eat. This bacteria eats sugar and produces acid that wears down the protective enamel

2. It fights dry mouth

Saliva is your mouth’s first defense against tooth decay. Xerostomia is the fancy word for dry mouth. The lack of (or decreased) saliva can make it hard to swallow and chew your food and also increase your risk for decay. By drinking enough water, you help reduce dry mouth.

3. It’s calorie free

Water doesn’t have any calories and it doesn’t have any sugar. This makes it incredibly healthy!

4. It strengthens your teeth

Fluoride is a mineral and a natural cavity fighter. Drinking water with fluoride is one of the easiest and best things you can do to help prevent cavities. In the right amount, it strengthens teeth.
